Monthly Women’s Integrative Wellness Night
For the Women of New York City’s
Ronald McDonald House
Location:
Ronald McDonald House of NYC
405 East 73rd Street
New York, NY 10021
WHY:The Ronald McDonald House provides temporary housing for pediatric cancer patients and their families. These families come from all over the United States and the world to receive treatment at some of the top pediatric cancer hospitals that are located in New York City. Often families are separated as one parent needs to remain at home to work or care for other children. The caregivers who accompany the children devote all their time and energy to visiting hospitals, caring for their sick child and hoping the treatments will work magic.
PURPOSE OF OUR EVENT: Our hope is to provide these amazing women with some respite from their burdens. We plan to have a nutritionist and personal trainer to speak with the women about healthy diets on the go and exercises they can do while inpatient with their children. We will also have massage therapy, reflexology, reiki, acupressure, facials and haircuts available for the women that night. We will be holding this Women’s Wellness Night the second Wednesday of every month. The children will be engaged with Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation volunteers while their moms rejuvenate their mind, body and spirit. We will also present the mothers with gift totes and we will all enjoy a light meal.
